The autumn auction by Xiling Seal Society, one of the most famous Chinese traditional culture societies on China’s mainland, will have its preview from tomorrow, and this time the auction highlights manuscripts from 240 celebrities from 19th to 21st century in the world.
The manuscripts include those from Charles Dickens, Thomas Hardy, Conan Doyle, Victor Hugo, Zola, Alexandre Dumas, Alexandre Dumas fils, Albert Einstein, Rabindranath Tagore, Romain Rolland, Alice Munro, Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt.
In addition, the auction also includes photos with signature of Audrey Hepbum, Elizabeth Taylor and Ingrid Bergman as well as a letter by Hepbum.
And a letter by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien is expected to hammer in 100,000 yuan (US$16,000) as it mentioned The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, two most important works in his life.
The auction also boasts works from Chinese art masters, including Wu Changshuo, Wu Guanzhong and Qi Baishi.
The preview will run until Friday at World Trade Center and the auction will be held from Saturday to December 17 at Zhejiang Narada Grand Hotel.
