Lantern shows will be held in many communities and landmark places in Hangzhou to celebrate the Lantern Festival next Monday, which marks the end of lunar New Year celebration.
Wushan Square in downtown Shangcheng District is the most popular venue for the lantern show. A giant lantern, 25 meters long and six meters high, is the centerpiece of the show.
Hangzhou Workers’ Cultural Palace will hold a lantern show and a riddle-guessing game on February 21 and 22.
West Lake Cultural Plaza, Dengxin Lane, and Zhugan Lane in Xiacheng District will have lantern displays, folk art performances, and Peking Opera mask painting demos.
In Gongshu District, Grand Canal Cultural Square, Hongshi Central Garden and Jiachengyeyue Park will present lantern shows and art performances as well. Sightseeing boats will take visitors to see lanterns from the Grand Canal. Each passenger will receive a lantern as a gift.
