An 11-year-old girl reportedly plunged to her death from the seventh-floor balcony at her home in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Monday morning.
Just before she’d arrived at home, the fourth-grader had been scolded at her primary school because she hadn’t completed her homework for the past few days, according to local reports.
“The child didn’t hand in her homework and also lied to her teacher, and her teacher thought that she needed to have a talk with the parents,” said the principal of Hemu Primary School, who was only identified by her surname Zheng.
“Both the parents and the teacher communicated. The parents were friendly and the experienced teacher didn’t say anything out of line. Both parties finally agreed to take the girl home so that she could complete her homework before sending her back to school again.”
Upon arriving home from school, the girl jumped off the balcony from her seventh-floor apartment building while her mom was parking the car.
The girl was rushed to the hospital immediately but was unable to be saved.
Further investigation is underway.
