Local tourist hotels, including some five-star hotels, failed their swimming pool water quality tests, the Hangzhou Public Sanitation Bureau announced.
Seven hotels failed the water quality tests as their pools contained excessive amount of urea and residual chlorine.
Ten community swimming pools and two public swimming pools also failed the tests as authorities found excessive levels of bacteria, Escherichia coli, and turbidity in their water samples.
The bureau said it will check the water qualify of the failed swimming pools again this month.
