Hangzhou vice mayor is urging local residents to live a healthy, low-carbon life and do fitness exercise at least 30 minutes each time and three times a week. She made the call on the 7th National Health Day yesterday.
Chen Hongying said public transport, cycling and walking are the preferred mode of transport. Healthy diet, regular exercise, no smoking and no addiction to alcohol can ensure long life expectancy.
To promote the National Healthy Day, 50 volunteers traveled across the city on bikes.
Statistics show that smog days averaged 160 days a year in Hangzhou since 2012 with automobiles contributing 39.5 percent of the city’s PM2.5 pollutants — airborne particles smaller than 2.5 micrometers in diameter.
