Starting this week, Hangzhou Metro has added another six security checkpoints at subway stops to ensure public safety.
Bags and suitcases of large sizes are subject to examination at the checkpoints before passengers can be taken into a station.
Things that are forbidden to take on the Metro system include fireworks; flammable and explosive products; guns; imitation guns; helium balloons; bulk wine; police equipment; controlled knives; toxic, corrosive and radioactive substances.
Though passenger flow volume is huge during rush hours, the scanner machines will help the checks go speedy, said a metro officer.
