Hangzhou’s Metro operator has stepped up stricter security measures at all stations to ensure public safety in the wake of a serious bus fire in the city.
Passengers will be asked to sip any liquids they are carrying to prove they are harmless, said the opeprator.
The additional security was introduced after a passenger poured a flammable liquid on a Hangzhou bus on July 5 and set it on fire. More than 30 people were injured.
Commuters who refuse to comply with security checks and create public disturbance can face criminal detention.
