Police have detained a man in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province who sought revenge against his ex-girlfriend by filing several false reports against her alleging she was a prostitute, media reported Tuesday.
The man surnamed Gao was taken into custody for intentionally disturbing the peace on Saturday night after he called police a total six times claiming his ex was engaging in prostitution out of their shared apartment.
He also filed an additional complaint against the police themselves for their slow response time, authorities said.
Police responded to the last report at 12:23 am on Saturday only to discover Gao had given them the wrong apartment number.
Officers eventually arrived at the right room to find Gao in a drunken state, media reported.
“I also live here and that girl is always bringing over some guys. She’s been making strange noises that bother me. She’s a prostitute,” Gao told police, according to the report.
When officers did not find the woman on the premises, they took Gao to the local police station.
Gao later confessed that he filed the reports because he was jealous his ex-girlfriend was currently seeing another man.
