Hangzhou police apprehended a group of six pregnant women who had reportedly pilfered 300 pieces of clothing worth over 100,000 RMB from 11 shops within three hours, Zhejiang News reported.
The police were alerted by a shop assistant, who reported that her shop was missing 10,000 RMB worth of merchandise.
Footage from mall monitors shows two pregnant women stuffing clothes into plastic bags. Other cameras show two pregnant woman distracting a shop keeper at an underwear store while two others quickly steal the clothes and put them into their bags. Fortunately, the police arrived and caught them red-handed.
The pregnant women revealed that they had stolen clothes in other big cities. They normally fled to Hunan, their hometown, to dump the stolen goods. They would often discuss their next jobs while playing mahjong.
One policeman said the women believed that they couldn’t be arrested because they were pregnant.
