So far, 567 primary and middle schools have opened their sports facilities to the public free of charge when all classes are over for the day. People can book a slot for using 502 facilities via a mobile app.
Of the 567 schools, 225 are in downtown districts and the rest are in suburban districts and Hangzhou Economic and Technology Development Zone.
Residents can download Hangzhou Citizen Card app on their smartphones, browse schools that are close to them and then make reservations for using sports facilities there.
Currently, schools without student dormitories or evening classes have opened their sports grounds and gyms to the public for three hours a day, Monday to Friday, and six hours a day during weekends, public holidays and summer and winter vacations.
Schools that have dorms and evening classes only open their facilities to the public during weekends, public holidays, and vacations for six hours a day.
People who haven’t got a Hangzhou Citizen Card can go to the community service center to apply for one. They need to bring their residence permits and ID cards.
