Kong Shengdong has been driving a bus on Route 28 for 10 years and was named a Hangzhou model for learning from Lei Feng, the altruistic Chinese solider who always tried to help others until his death in 1963. March 5 is designated Learn from Lei Feng Day.
The Hangzhou Office for Ethical Progress and Hangzhou Public Transport Group honored Kong by fixing a plate to the front of his bus and painting his picture on the side of the bus for easy recognition.
Kong has driven safely nearly 1 million kilometers and always lends a helping hand to people in need. He puts city maps, medical kits, folding fans and umbrellas in the bus so that passengers can use or borrow for free. Kong also uses his spare time to fix bikes for other people.
His outstanding service has earned the praises of many people and awards from his company and the city government. Kong said he will continue to serve people warm-heartedly as Lei Feng did.
