“Fashion is passion!” – Smash Mouth
By: Daniel Otero
For millenniums since fashion came to light, especially with those wonderful shoes, women have been in the spotlight for more than 10,000 years. And why do I see women torturing their feet over shoes? For millions of women it’s that feeling of independence. But not only the feeling of independence, women have gone through great social strides to achieve social equality and why are women still hung-up on rubbish like bras, dresses and shoes. Is it for men? Or because males imposed these as an exercise of attraction in our male chauvinist world; come on, after the 20th Century, this was the Century of the female! The answer is simple, because they are females and it’s a great therapy. From Qiu Jin to Zhang Ziyi, there’s a certain femaleness that we as males cannot experience or understand. And for the opposite sex [women] is as they are ‘comrades in arms’.
However, the other horror is if a female goes to a party and somebody else is wearing exactly that same dress or shoes, what a tragedy in the making! While for males wearing the same suit is like a sign of brotherhood or thumbs up!
For females over the age of 13, it’s the happiness in getting those desired pairs of shoes. ‘I got to have them attitude!’ Once they have being purchased or ‘conquered’, they can wear them for all–the world to see them. To show-off their feet and compete with the other women of the world. I’m a Queen, since I have these shoes.’ It’s like that Carrie Bradshaw mentality from ‘Sex and the City’.
Ah, female mentality to me is mystery and how wonderful is the discovery!
A woman, and it doesn’t matter the age, they want to be sexy. And of course, they have the right to be. I wouldn’t tell them any differently. Some of them look like ‘knockouts’ in their shoes, easily conquering any man that passes by!
Wow, so now they got the shoes, there’s another excuse to get a matching dress. Well, I shouldn’t be so macho. Maybe the matching dress is for work! But they’ll have an excuse for a lovely new dress with their shoes. Which in my opinion is even lovelier; it’s a way to arrange and have clothing. Think of it in this way, males have five pairs of shoes and on average a pair last two years. For women it’s 50 pairs and then move on to the next. After less than two months, there is a need for another pair of shoes or matching dress for that matter!
Match moods… Like the cycles of life, women need these according to the time of year and their feelings. Oh my God, now I’m even more confused! Most women will tell me, what’s there to understand, you’re only a man! Your brain is too basic! There are fashions for spring, summer, autumn and winter. Shall I say more! In these accessories are matching dresses, boots, sandals, flat shoes, low-heels, high-heels, open shoes and closed shoes. According to the time of year, they’ll need a coat or jacket to go with the dress. I give up!
Oh, let me not forget the pedicure, if they decide to wear an open shoe. By the end of the day a shoe fetish is more expensive than a hobby or desire. It is a way of life as well as a great therapy (Kladakis, 2010).
For women it’s variety to wear in life, competition for themselves, career or to get a man. ‘And who said that men are conquerors?’
All women want to feel in style, beautiful and confident. There is no need to be lesser than they are, if not, they would be like us, men.
Women like to show their feet in movement, conversation and style. What a great feeling to see a completely-elegant and matched woman! It’s lovely for the eyes to see them in a beautiful dress and matching shoes. Women have that advantage over men with variety! A well dressed woman can captivate a room, whether they are professionals or homemakers. They can become the centre of attention, and which woman doesn’t want to feel this in a positive way.
If it’s in a social context, when a woman likes a man she will show it through her feet. Yes, a woman is more complex than a man! Something that is harder to diagnose in a man. Ah, this is the other reason for shoes! She moves her feet towards [in a giggle or stance] when she’s attracted to somebody (Wardrep, 2012). When she is not, she will cross her legs away from the person or try to hide her legs.
What better than to watch this in action! For these simple facts, women are more interesting than men. Our [male] engineering is so simple; while I can live this entire lifetime learning about women and their desire for shoes. Men have stupidly gone to war over women in the past and women like to be defended. Not always, and sometimes they want too. I know, I know, it’s a macho thing to say and women still like to be stood or fought over. If the majority of women say to the contrary [even the feminist], I’ll call them full of it! So, what better treasure than to admire, adore and watch them in peace! Enjoy the experience…
