In the Morning:
The journey begins when you reach Hefang Street, a famous long pedestrian street gracing architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties. This colourful street is lined door to door with shops selling Hangzhou’s most renowned commodities such as silk, paper cuttings, tea, chop sticks, calligraphy and sesame snacks.
Not only renowned for modern knick-knacks, Hefang Street can also give you a taste of what it was like in the olden days with a visit to the nearby Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum. Once inside why not tantalise those taste buds even further with a number of healthy dishes, being served, in the Museum’s adjacent Medicated Diet Restaurant.
In the Afternoon:
Continuing on, you will visit Fang Hui Chun Tang Pharmacy where you can enjoy a cup of health protection tea and witness various types of herbal medicines being prepared for prescriptions. If your qi (energy) is fading then why not take this opportunity to visit a veteran TCM doctor who will soon have you flying to your next destination. For an early supper any restaurant in Gao Yin Food Street, parallel to Hefang Street, will not fail to satisfy any number of healthy appetites.
Hefang Street not only shines by day but by night it lights the way to experiencing a number of traditional treats. Indulging yourself in the night market dubbed ‘Snack Street’, for the diverse food it serves, is one way of completing your healthy journey into TCM.
