Hangzhou will have 10 Metro lines totaling more than 400 kilometers by 2020, according to the city’s revised master plan which was approved by the State Council recently.
Initially, Hangzhou authorities planned for a Metro system of only five subways with a total length of 171 kilometers.
The revised master plan for the period from 2001-2020 contains 15 changes, involving public transport, infrastructure, environment, heritage protection, industrial and housing projects, urban design, underground space, and public green areas.
According to the plan, Hangzhou will build four more inter-city railways to Tongxiang, Deqing, Anji and Zhuji in addition to four local rails to Haining, Lin’an, Fuyang and Keqiao. The rail from downtown Hangzhou to Fuyang will be extended to Tonglu.
