Strong winds brought by Typhoon Vongfong will blow away the smog hanging over Hangzhou today and send the mercury down by about 10 degrees Celsius in coming days, local forecasters said.
The city’s air quality index (AQI) will return to the satisfactory range of 60-80 today, according to the Hangzhou Environmental Monitoring Center.
The weather will stay cloudy and sunny this week as a result of a cold front coming from the north. The city was buffeted by strong winds yesterday afternoon due to the influence of Typhoon Vongfong and an approaching cold front.
The temperature is between 21 and 17 degrees today and will drop to a high of 13 degrees and a low of 10 degrees on Wednesday.
The cold front also will bring a drop in humidity level as the moist air from the typhoon dissipates.
