The mild spell has made it feel like spring in Hangzhou and yesterday’s high of 17.9 degrees Celsius made it the second hottest day for the date on record since 1951.
Meteorologists said the mercury will rise to 19 degrees today, making it the warmest day of the year thus far, although some rain will bring cooler temperatures tomorrow.
Lou Maoyuan, vice president of Zhejiang Provincial Meteorological Observatory, compared the weather to warming up the bathroom.
“It’s just like you keep your bathroom warmers on. The room will definitely become hot, sooner or later,” he said.
