The sun peered through clouds yesterday and many locals went out to enjoy the good weather. But another cold front is approaching and will bring rain and chill to the city from Wednesday, local forecasters said.
Heavy downpours are expected on Friday and Saturday and the mercury will plunge by as much as 10 degrees Celsius, they said.
Today is cloudy with a high of 14 degrees Celsius, but light rains will fall tonight and let up tomorrow morning. Tomorrow’s temperature will vary between 6 degrees and 13 degrees Celsius.
The city will be dominated by a cold front from Wednesday to Sunday with more rains and possibly sleet and the temperature will stay between 2 and 10 degrees.
Hangzhou recorded precipitation of 144.4 millimeters between February 20 and 28, a record for that period of the year. Average rainfall across the province was 100.9 millimeters for the period.
This Friday is called jingzhe on the Chinese lunar calendar, meaning the awakening of insects from hibernation. The temperature will rise noticeably afterwards.
